Management of Compost Fertilizer under the Back to Nature – Organic Farming Non-Formal Training Program
The Training emphasized the relevance of composting in reducing chemical fertilizer usage, improving soil fertility. And production of organic fertilizer by managing animal shed dung & urine and even household degradable waste. The session included presentations and discussions on the following key areas:
• Concept of compost and its role in organic farming
• Benefits of compost for soil nutrition, moisture retention, and crop productivity
• Types of composting: aerobic and anaerobic methods
• Management and utilization of animal or cow shed (Vakaro Sudhar ra Bewasthapan) and its bio waste like; cow dung & urine for compost fertilizer.
• Required materials for compost preparation such as green waste, dry waste, cow dung, kitchen waste, and water
• Step-by-step process of compost making, including layering technique, maintaining moisture level, and temperature control
• Common errors during composting and ways to avoid them
Participants actively engaged in the discussion, shared their traditional composting practices, and expressed interest in adopting improved organic composting methods.
